In this post you are going to discover a steady & popular flower ‘Dianthus’, even called sweet William. It produces right up flowers with frilly edge, that’s why titled and its appearance seems ornamental to any garden. Dianthus is a hardy plant to handle and generally with low mortality at the initial stage of transfer & posting.
I have decided to show the picture in three different modes, first Night Vision, secondly as Panoramic View and lastly Closeup View. Hope, by this way you can get the complete essence of the Dianthus beauty.
Most importantly, this time I grown this flower at 6 inches pot (better at 8 inches), although most often preferred at bed, because it has the capacity to extend flowering from Dec/Jan. till March. At the end, one pot been displayed for assessment of the exact look, as well as limitations...
This particular quality, special dwarf variety (Ideal select mix) germinated at nursery, being of Pan America seeds, which cost me only @ Rs.3/- each. There are different hybrids varieties, with different colours & variegated patterns.
Below: PANORAMIC VIEW
The flowers have five petals measuring 2-3 inches diameter, and comes out with number of flowers, typically with a frilled margin having clove like scent.
The name Dianthus is from Greek word -‘Dios’ means God; and 'Anthos' means flower…
Below : CLOSE-UP VIEWMany thanks for the visit...
