“Humanity”- Pulls and Counter Pulls…

All will agree that today ‘Humanity’ is gripped by pulls and counter pulls; the resultant effect decides our position of existence.

This resultant situation is so difficult for ad-judgement that nothing short of change in human consciousness can lift from this growing crisis…

To be precise, on the one hand there is downward gravitational pull, which has many features that are related to the structure and super structures of life. These structures are being sustained by inventions & discoveries, which contribute to efficiency.

Certainly, all these tend to sub-verse certain intellectual goals, but equally enhance pragmatism, competition and gratification of pleasures.
Thus, the fabric of life yields more and more mechanization and even dehumanization. The pursuit of life is pulled down by the forces that weaken human will. This gravitational pull is that of the infra rational, and to fight against it so as to retain humanism and humanity requires an effort…

Interestingly, on the other hand there is pull towards horizontal developments. The scientific progress tends to be utilized in their application, and provides wings to humanity to fly into higher efforts and achievements.
There appears to be widespread inquiry, pushing humanity to develop philosophy and ethics, as also stringent notions of justice and equality.
Moreover, there are also growing visions and experiments with liberty & equality, in spite of being intervened by economic forces to offer struggle.
In these domains, humanity can fulfill its humanism and various paths are open to invite humanity to become more humane, rational and ethical. In fact, this network of ideas and forces constitutes the cultural effort of todays.

However, there is still a higher pull of vertical ascension. It’s the conquest of the sub-conscient and the inconscient by powers of rationality, ethicality, aesthetic sensitivity and the super conscient pursuits of the truth, beauty and goodness…

The final assumption being collaborated with the aim of development in the complete fulfillment of the mankind forms of expression & commitments, as individual, of a community, citizen, inventor and creative dreamer, despite pulls and counter pulls, differences & conflicts…

All things are balanced by their opposite, and the pulls and counter pulls are manifestations of this need for balance. Your thoughts are very profound and, may I say, revolutionary. Much of what you say is similar to what Sri Aurobindo said in his essays but his writing (including his creative writing, like Savitri) was almost always way too difficult for me to understand.
