Educated elite-Values & Hypocrisy...

                           Educated elite-Values & Hypocrisy...

Most people complain that there is lack of ‘Values’ in our society. It is from that convention added value education in the curriculum of education. Added one subject in the classes, taught by explanations to understand all the dos and don’ts…

Such as ‘Be good’, ‘Don’t steal’, don’t tell lies… etc. etc... to begin with. Then there is exam where it is written what learnt…

As a matter of fact, values cannot be taught by explanations, it is required to be learnt all this by heart or discuss it, But our educational approach does not corroborate this need…

As a result of which, what happens in real life situation? When the same child see a object left unnoticed! He tends to reach it out. Actually, our mind repeats the ‘values’ but heart desires something else because the heart is different from the mind. What happens next! If the desire is strong enough it overwhelms the mind and possess the object… The mind is called in by the heart to cover guilt & justify the action. So what is wrong if I take away... the child has become a hypocrite. This kind of preaching of values to mind only cultivates hypocrisy. Unconsciously, this is the character of the educated elite today. We can’t blame them; it is the consequences of our Industrial education system…

That is why in the cities we generally cannot trust people. Do not know what they actually think! Because the actions are different from their words! Truth seems to be false when examined… absolutely common feature, even with dears & nears. I think! no one can take the risk to deny the facts! Look into their eyes and one may find curtain that hides the person behind…

Now contrast, similar observation with uneducated villagers anywhere in the world. Look into their eyes… there is veil…Who they are flows in their actions and it shows in every gesture. They think, speak & act in the same way…

Modern education is based on Industrial mindset has turned in into hypocrites because of this approach concept of teaching values.
Values have to be taught by experience and then by explanations… After experiencing it one can explain all they want, because it already means something to them.

Narration of stories, when skillfully did can be one of the most powerful means of inculcating values. Other methods are, use of team games, personal examples, visual & auditory aids. Even movies, all that having some grown in experience & maturity… can feel these values have awakened within as a living force in life.
Adding values to this post...

In this context, it is relevant to point out; I found that every educated elite do not know the actual meaning of ‘Value’ of a product! Then how values of human endeavor can be ensured… I don’t know!! Even, I do not have the intention to know who they are? because I know the fundamental reason…

Much like every thing values too have been cultivated on the pretext of haves and have nots and the class based society that India is. This is a double edged sword.

I have lived in city and in a village. My experience says that there can be totally bitchy back biting people in the villages who can make life for you because they have nothing much to do..

Today's civilisation encourages hypocrisy. You've rightly said that values cannot be taught; they have to be acquired in one's bones through a rigorous process of self-examination. But parents and teachers can play a significant role in helping in that process.

@ Farila,
Welcome & thanks for sharing your personal experience & wish, having no relevance with the posts spirit or merit.
However, this is a memorandum based on the fundamental 'Knowledge' of Sri Aurobindo. I'm proud to share this valued information, later interpreted by eminent research scholars..
I certainly enjoy my life & benefits by major citizens contributing substantial GDP of our Country.

@ matheikal,
Many many thanks for appropiate conclusion. You are absolutely correct, since our tradition has done this in the past. My emphasis was to seek change our educational curriculam for inculcating basic values.
Best of luck.
