My Retirement Speech

My Retirement Speech on 31 st. August' 2019

Good Evening to respected Project Head, distinguish Admins, fellow retiring colleagues & the HR personnel’s mentoring the show. My special thanks to all loving DVCians be it executives, non executives or ex-employees present at the Auditorium. I wholeheartedly applaud my friends, guests & the family members who came to witness the celebration event. I also like to congratulate my beloved family for their relentless support to manage my office obligation for a pretty long time

It’s a privilege to associate with the biological event of my superannuation to address few words before you all, although I am not usually a public speaker

Today the wheel of my service tenure has come to a full circle, indeed a memorable journey of 34 years 6 months and 13 days. My personal timeline and bond with DVC appears to be a phenomenal journey in progression of life and living. I enjoyed the rare opportunity to born and grow with DVC resources and opportunities, became second generation employee and now closing my service as a source of delight, exactly an eventful memoir to cherish for a lifetime

Naturally, I wish to salute all ex-DVCians, whose relentless effort and exorbitant costs laid the foundation to build this august organisation at the gross level what it appears today, including my proud father who has been superannuated in early eighties from DVC Maithon. I express my gratitude to few personalities who encouraged, inspired or keep faith over the years to represent what I am today

Indeed DVC is a great organisation where one might feel fortunate to work here, as I have. It begins at Tilaiya Hydel on 19.02.1985. Next joined CM&ES at Maithon while gradually became SSK(PG ). Subsequently, worked at Maithon Division as Special Assistant (SC), lastly at CRITM under CTC as SA & SSK (PG).

When I joined DVC it was a fulfillment of my family aspiration and alongside my hopes and dreams, but with growing time has long since vanished. However, I admit to get a decent living and reasonable space at workplace. So far personal achievement is concern it is being left for scrutiny and judgement based on imperial evidences spread over the departments & domains where I left my hand-prints

Let me arrange some highlights from experiences, such as exceptional acknowledgement from the honorable Secretary during 1997 for leading contribution in MM faculty at CM&FS, the CMM’s endorsement as best cadre after level-III MM training policy up to 1996, enjoyed close contact with the policy decision framework. Inventory management appreciated for scientific storage by CSVO, Implemented Central Excise Act-1944 formalities for about four years and saved 15 to 18K per annum. In course of redeployment persuade about 825 eviction proceedings under PP Act-1971 when attached to civil dept. Also responsive to almost every desk bound activity from MM curriculum to administrative coordination and communications. In sports represented DVC in All India Electricity Board meets in Volleyball twice, besides attained project representations in different games

I always tried to be within my principle and values, keep faith on effectiveness, do not relied on achieving position but focus on performance caliber. At Corporate point of view, whenever found necessary put forth my opinion to the competent authorities of the Corporation and every time achieved objective purposes

Finally, I understand retirement means promotion to one of the best roles of life, what matters is the process, the offerings, the gesture and the exclamation thereof. I will set a tone for distant DVCians with a compose for this day available at social sites...

A Creative Leader! What people follow…?

When we think about leaders, we try to find them in Politics but they are equally present at all movements of life starting from spiritual to social, corporate to art & culture, profession to business, sports & games to family heads…

The fundamental quality is the spirit that lends power on a strong base…

A Leader gradually develops the following traits.

  • 1.     He is first and foremost a true service provider, must not want the position. A good Leader has no value for worldly things which are temporary, pursues higher aims that are more permanent.
  • 2.     He is able to communicate vision to the people. A Leader must be established in higher values.
  • 3.     He is dedicated to the welfare of the people not driven by self interest.  A Leader must have an impeccable character and be above reproach.
  • 4.     He who invest his unique talent and energies in that field. A Leader born with to follow inner callings & believe to identify it.
  • 5.     He who believes intellectual judgments should prevail.  A Leader not gets distracted by whims & fancies, follows the clear reasoning of intellect & carefully thought decisions.
  • 6.     He distinguishes obligatory actions, desire driven actions & prohibited actions. A Leader with hard work performs obligatory duties free from attachment.
  • 7.     He performs action and ‘knows’ to work in a spirit of service and sacrifice for a higher ideal. A Leader must be in a foundation of a good higher ideal.
  • 8.     He who loves people and feels one with them. A Leader evokes a powerful response from the people in a spirit for progress.
  • 9.     He takes the stand and plays it to the best of his ability. The prerequisite of a Leader is his objectivity, witness attitude to become successful & happy.
  • 10.    He cultivates the quality from humans thought textures. A Leader is a person who is objective, subjective, creative & effective…

Now walk the talk which attracted the attention and lead the objective, when a pure and passionate Leader achieved calmness and serenity forever… The State & Citizens offering memorable tribute to Balasaheb Thackeray! End of an unique Indian Sena… depicts as a genuine Leader, may his soul rest in peace, condolence to his huge followers, fans, critics, friends & families…

People follow what he have done & achieved…

It’s Energy! THAT, FAT, SAT…

The Energy is the concentrated power which drives the cause to its purpose. An infinite working power in all achievement, like getting inert coal into fire or water transmute into steam…

But energy to be productive, it must be carefully controlled and conserved; besides directed towards conceding good ends.

So far, a new term conservation of energy is concern, expressive by principle in nature by which no energy is wasted or lost.

As human being our energies also must work intelligently upon this concept, to be fruitful in results. So that it intensifies until it approaches to destiny… In agitation and excitement the mentality gets dispersed and during calmness, these appear to be a focus mentality & concentrated energy behind it.

All knows that Energy is the foundation of prosperity, and without essential energy one can’t be at the temple of prosperity. But energy is a composite power, it don’t stand alone, rather involved in qualities which goes to the making of character of prosperity.

These qualities are contained in characteristics like Promptness, Vigilance, Entrepreneurship, and Earnestness etc…

When people are prompt and relied upon… it begets reliability, may not be regarded as economic value. The deliberation and dispatch are valuable aids of ‘promptitude’ in the achievement of prosperity.

Whereas ‘vigilance’ is the protector of all the faculties and powers of the mind… with regard to actions, the effects & reactivity, according to the measure of giving for good.

‘Entrepreneurship’ brings cheerfulness and plenty… Industrious people are generally happy member of the community, not rich in terms of money but satisfied with what they do and have.

It is the ‘earnestness’ dedicates the entire mind to its task, becomes dissatisfied with anything short of excellence or good, an indebitable impression to give the best without any doubt or misgiving…

To engineer the post, taken instrumental working attitude of the “Power Industry”... That, Fat, Sat… seems both integral to existence of humanity. They represents as DAT- Design acceptance test; FAT-Factory acceptance test; SAT-Site acceptance test…A collaborative effort to ensure Generation, Transmission & Distribution of Power. The Power synchronizes energy and the Energy holds power... animate or inanimate; real or virtual… Similarly! Vibrates to gain power to experience the subjectivity, unite as an Observer, the process of Observation and Observed… save energy! through moral, mental, social /personal acceptance tests…

Hibernating!...‘Goodness’

We struggle to find out ways to define what constitute goodness at both personal and collective levels, within the dominant cultures and influences of inequality, injustice, inhumanity… and inclusive well being.

Good-Sense & Good-indulgence.

What is acutely needed is the simple yet profound approach to ‘basic goodness’.

According to reality, our survival depends and will continue to depend on our goodness factor as human beings, there is far more good than evil in this World.

The basic goodness is something innate, embracing both the nature and experience of reality as basic human virtue. This core belief of human psychology based on the notion, that all people are fundamentally good, having basic qualities like being openness, intelligence & compassion…

This everlasting viewpoint has its philosophical & psychological expression in ancient & traditional concepts, where this idea is ultimately rooted in experience of goodness and worthiness in oneself and others.

The basic goodness isn’t something we find or create; it is often something we have to uncover, through good-sense.

Actually, it gets submerged in the process of construction of our versions of who we are & should be… a place in which we live. As such, we used to settle into convenient and inclined inaccurate pattern of assumptions, emotions, thoughts & actions, through which we deal with everyday life.

Growing with time, these becomes rooted and fixed and also blind us to the basic goodness in ourselves & others. The environment speaks for itself be it news, views, contributions, actions or reactions.

However, the basic goodness not lie somewhere beyond pain of tragic (fear, anxiety, anger, violence, injustice) human experiences, but rather in them…

In this context, I like to mention what  a famous neuroscientist pronounced: “Instead of focusing on a behavior we wish to change or habit we may not like, reflect on the possibility of strengthening or nurturing those parts of yourself that reflect your basic goodness”.

A simple way to sustain this approach is "to become more aware of it when it is there". As with many wonderful things, though this is simple & easy! Goodness often speaks to us in a soften voice and tone; an inner compulsion seemed to drive the condition what is true & good… a good-sense. We all need to establish it as the sign of convenience, for advancement of humanity…

Instead of perpetual quest for the image, I believe the modalities of Goodness are… to do, to inculcate, to access, to be and to act with autonomy and judgment. People follow what you do, not what you say…

Thanks to have the Goodness to read...

Wholeness! Arts and Sciences...

The Arts & Sciences are two different branches of study... While according to concept reality Arts are a necessary part of any complete education even for faculty of the Sciences...

But practically, Arts & Sciences has been artificially separated by the Industrial mindset; most likely consider Arts as being of no great usefulness to Industrial efficiency.
Performing Arts by Children's
I am also not free from the victim of circumstance. At the early stages of development through education procedurally inclined to take up Sciences leaving Arts and deprived from the essence of a particular faculty…

The fact is the right brain directly imparts the creative faculties, essential requirement for any scientific innovation and similar thoughts.
Similarly, the Science directly trains the left brain and its analytic & expressive creativity cannot organize and manifest itself accurately in material form.

Already given clue how the brain learns and functions... and which is one of the key insight. The Science specially math’s… involves observation, practical logic, more abstract involving visualization, rotation and some abstractions… at a specialized centre in the brain.

Therefore, of late realized to take up both artistic & scientific activities without detachments from any one of them, rather must be encouraged, even compelled to take up both the routes...
The Science skills will be far more effective if there is the right brain creative support.

I am reasonably convinced with my own experience. As a Science student, I do not have equal exposure to literature & Arts (including music, singing etc.) as part of education. However, a little own affinity to painting, photography, reading books & connectivity to sports & after joining profession with arts etc.… I can work differently from others.
Construction! through Science 'Huge Tower Crane'
If a Science student, who got exposure to Arts, when say becomes a Computer Programmer. He is capable to perceive his work as a picture, each part in its right place and right relation to all other parts, much like a large detailed artwork. May draw a flow chart without writing the programme, yet develop a more natural interface both performance & efficiency and coding more quickly. The richness of such experience is difficult to describe. The most important aspects of it are the sense of Wholeness and unity of each part with the Whole.

In our modern education these two subjects division, resulting detrimental effect to a large majority of ultimate citizens during educational modes.

The consequences are readable, can easily be distinguished from performances, where we can notice a bright Science student found to be less expressive, and an Arts student likely less innovative on abstract thinking…

It is interesting to observe that most of the great Scientist from Einstein to Ramanujam had deep artistic openings…

Let’s recognize the need to develop both the facets simultaneously and integrate them as far as possible, through awareness at least to future citizens… Since, the Art and the Science are Natural ally…

Logically! Don’t know English, but Eros it!

Language can actually influence our brain’s capacities to understand things.
The language truly is a convention; at least English language seems to be illogical by appearance! Language offers vocabulary we need to express our emotions…

One cannot learn language by trying to understand it. Then how do we learn it? Actually by leaving it…

In Sanskrit the word for language is “bhasha”. It means that which converses. That’s the key to language, where we converse, when we live the language, and then it becomes a part of us.

A little baby, learns his mother tongue and speaks at the age of 4/5 years, without any lesson, but by living the language, won’t have teach any grammar, the language flows automatically. We use grammar for training the mind’s ability and some of its faculties of analysis. Every language has a certain grammar and the grammar molds the brain’s through process to get acquaintance.

That the language of mother tongue, actually the brain absorb the meaning, while the result is comprehension, which is richer because it is built layer upon layer. Whereas, in respect of English language, if held many words together can get the meaning & without layering, the brain summaries it and goes on…

But, most Indian languages has the structure to communicate by layers, because they derives from Sanskrit, a language which can express a variety of emotions and all the shades in between, variety of thoughts with perfect clarity and structure.

Do you know? In Russian language there is no word for ‘alternative’. In English, have the word ‘Love’… In Greek, there are two words for Love; one is ‘Agape’ (selfless Divine love) & the other ‘Eros’ (love based on desire & possession).

Thus, likely a person, whose mother tongue is English he is constantly confusing these two words when one says a “Love” at cross purposes…

In English, you to repeat certain words again & again. Such as in long sentences ‘he’ & ‘she’… ‘The’ comes in repeats.  Letter ‘H’ occurs very rarely compared to other letters and because of ‘the’ H gets prominence.

If we contrast, with Indian languages… which have words for fine emotions, clarity of thought, because verbs, nouns & adjectives change form according to the rest of the sentences.

Let’s take a fragment of ‘Hindi’ sentence “me jata hu-me jati hu”, if you drop 'me'- you still knows whether it refers to a man or woman. Take this in English-“ I am going”- I don’t tell if it refers to man or woman...

So, there are languages which are better suited for communicating ideas & emotions.

As a matter of fact, my mother tongue is ‘Bengali’, do consider “Hindi” as my second & National language, while my professional performance based on ‘English’ which is my language for argument! Ultimately established, that I do not know English, but I Eros it…and quite satisfied.

Beauty! without language..
Yes! My language lesson starts from the place where I stay and go everyday!…

Hope, you will find out the meaning of object and elements, in a way we could get to learn...

According to one estimate, an average person does have knowledge of about 5,000 to 7,000 words in English. If someone is exceptional it may be 8,000 words. Thus out of 8 lakhs words in English one may know about 10% only... With the help of this knowledge, a person speaks fluently English!…Think!!

Who is Extraordinary?

“EXTRAORDINARY”... A 13 letter word starts with E means, beyond what is ordinary and exceptional!

Exceptional is a character, out of common order or method, which is not customary, rather incomparable. That’s the general understanding…
As soon as, this word been associated with human being or any individual, we becomes alert to find who is Extraordinary?...

When we confront with our living realizations, do finds extraordinary desire for approvals or use of extraordinary authorities from normal human beings. The acts & activities we confront are far more unusual than expected, without any cognitive extraordinary contributions...

We can easily see extraordinary peoples with Real superpower available on web. To name a few like: A boy who sees without eyes, A man who does not feel cold, A women who can’t forget…many more, who’s achievement, popularity, contribution or capacity are exceptional…

There are many Extraordinary persons with disabilities too…for instance, Smt Sudha Chandran of Chennai. With artificial leg and despite disabilities became an acclaimed dancer of India.

I do understand, immediate the persons in your mind comes about Stephen Hawking, Helen Keller! Or similar great personalities!. That gives proper explanations, look their performances, where they reach with their disability. Really, I personally think, that Stephen Hawking is the biggest thing to happen to mankind…

Then...Who Try hard to become “Extraordinary”?...

The normal human beings! or the Ordinary persons? Not by concepts…
but from the real commitments……

I mean to say, about those who are disabled, handicapped by mental or physical difficulties, leave with their deformities, even deficiencies, throughout their life…at the most feel sorry for them. Actually, they strive hard to remain “Ordinary”. Whereas, the “Normal” peoples attitude & social approach seems Extraordinary! If we assess the ground realities.

Elephanta Cave!
I’m thankful for being normal, while considers people with any incredible limitations are actually ‘Extraordinary’…If there is anything wrong Correct it! Change it!...

Finally, here comes a mention of an extraordinary “Man for the moment” great contribution by a simple old man ANNA... a phenomenon, as on today the 28th August’2011. The facts known to everyone…needless to mention!

A social activist from Maharashtra with Gandian austerity and relentless anti corruption crusade, caught the imagination of the vast majority of the Country, touched each and every Indians. He has done this not for himself, but for our next generation…

I do not find anyone, who tried to check corruption at all India basis.
A unique exception, leads by this Honest, Innocent, Simple ANNA by wisdom of unity for peace and with peace, that’s a different experience. Here the credit goes to ANNA, held the cause peacefully…

Wish his quick recovery from damages held due to his fast for 12 days.
